Kazakhstan to host 7th WPC Youth Forum in 2022

With the next generation key to determining the future of the global oil and gas sector in the energy transformation, the World Petroleum Council has long given great importance to amplifying the voice and perspectives of young people in its global industry association.

Every three years, the global WPC Youth Forum celebrates and elevates the role and views of young professionals and students and provides a unique platform of engagement with industry leaders and senior experts from around the world.

Kazakhstan has just been announced as the host of the 7th WPC Youth Forum in October 2022. The event will take place in Almaty, the cultural, academic, scientific, industrial and financial center of the country.

Timur Kulibayev, Chair of the WPC National Committee of Kazakhstan and Chairman of the KAZENERGY Association, is proud of the important role young people play in the country’s development and economy: “The KAZENERGY Association attaches great importance to providing support to the youth. The future of the country depends directly on young people. In Kazakhstan, young people make up more than 20% of the total population of the country, creating a strategic resource for a prosperous future that requires special attention today.”

The President of the World Petroleum Council, Tor Fjaeran, was delighted with the Kazakh offer to host the prestigious WPC Youth Forum in their country: “The Kazakh National Committee, represented by the KAZENERGY Association and supported by all the key players in the Kazakh oil and gas sector, have long played a central role in the WPC activities. Having hosted several of our annual Council meetings in the past and participated in special events and expert meetings, we are aware of their excellent capabilities in hosting major events. We look forward to bringing our young professionals from WPC’s 62 member countries to meet their Kazakh counterparts in 2022. Together, they will be able to benefit by learning from global oil and gas industry leaders and exercise their own leadership qualities, while joining industry executives, experts and scientists as they share the most advanced solutions to the strategic challenges facing the industry during the energy transition”.

Representing WPC’s Young Professionals Committee, Stephane Rousselet, Chair of the YPC echoed this support. "I would like to thank our friends from Kazakhstan.
