In the unknowable and unpredictable environment of the Russian Far North Gazprom Neft has built a unique oil-loading terminal, the tellingly named “Arctic Gates” terminal. Two icebreakers, the Alexander Sannikov and the Andrei Vilkitsky, assumed round-the-clock duty there two years later. These Arctic sentinels operate under the Russian flag, ensuring year-round shipments of Novy Port oil.
