Owen Oil Tools launches new line of shaped charges for unconventional frac operations
GODLEY, Texas -- Owen Oil Tools, a division of Core Laboratories, recently launched its HERO PerFRAC line of shaped charges. This new offering is the latest generation HERO charge, specifically designed to improve the efficiency of fracturing operations in today’s unconventional reservoirs.
HERO PerFRAC charges produce consistent hole sizes, regardless of gun position, to equalize perforation friction (ΔPperf) across all perforations and minimize the effects of tortuosity. Conventional low cost, good hole, and super deep penetrating charges have large variances from the minimum to maximum hole sizes, causing the holes with smaller diameters to not contribute or become less effective than larger diameter holes. Consistent hole sizes at each shot around the casing helps to maximize cluster efficiency and increase SRV (stimulated reservoir volume).
