Hexion’s Oilfield Technology Group announces new dust suppressant solution
THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The Oilfield Technology Group (OTG) of Hexion Inc. has announced the release of its Sentinel dust suppressant. This new technology is designed to reduce dust generated from uncoated frac sand.
Hexion’s Sentinel dust suppressant is a low-cost solution designed to reduce the amount of respirable silica to levels below the new OSHA and existing Canadian permissible exposure limits. This dust suppressant solution is capable of reducing respirable silica dust below 25 µg/m3.
The unique chemical system traps fine dust particles and remains on the proppant during transportation and transfer. This liquid dust control agent is effective on all mesh size sands, including 100 mesh sand.
Hexion’s Sentinel dust suppressant technology helps provide safety and compliance from the sand mine to the wellhead. The versatile application method allows users to apply the product at the sand mine, transload or at the frac site. The delivery system can be mobile or stationary and has a small footprint on location. It will not decrease throughput at the sand mine or decrease sand offloading time when deployed at a transload or frac site, all while achieving a dust reduction to within acceptable limits.
“Hexion is accustomed to dealing with the challenges presented by respirable silica dust because of our many years of experience working with the foundry industry. The dust associated with uncoated frac sand is a major concern for the health and wellbeing of oil and gas workers,” said Jerry Kurinsky, senior V.P. and general manager, OTG.
