Former Weir exec launches ST9 Gas + Oil, a new oilfield services company

May 05, 2017

HOUSTON -- Chris Buckley, renowned engineer and former vice president at Weir Oil & Gas, has launched Houston-based ST9 Gas + Oil. The company offers a comprehensive portfolio of high-performance products, systems and services that support drilling, well completion, and production for upstream operations across the globe. The company is making its public launch during the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC 2017) in Houston on May 1-4.

“ST9 Gas + Oil was founded with the goal of disrupting the well service & completion industry,” said Chris Buckley, owner and founder of ST9 Gas + Oil. “Well service companies are constantly challenged and frustrated by the system of timeworn practices and technologies, and so ST9 was born out of proven success in the gas & oil industry and with the purpose of winning the field by outperforming. We want to take down what is not working and replace it with products that have revolutionary function and values that retain.”

ST9 plans to roll out several new products throughout 2017, all of which are designed to significantly outperform traditional brands and maximize return on investment, enabling well service operators to achieve lower total cost of ownership. These include:

  • Well service pumps
  • Well stimulation pumps
  • Fluid ends
  • Seats & valves
  • Plungers
  • Packing
  • High pressure flow control products
  • Safety products

Prior to ST9’s formation, Mr. Buckley served as vice president of pressure pumping for Weir Oil & Gas, where he oversaw engineering – including new product development, quality, cost control, field service, testing and marketing of its global $1B+ Oil & Gas business unit. Prior to Weir, Buckley worked at Caterpillar, Inc., where he oversaw key aspects in both its Well Stimulation and Hydraulics business units.
