ADNOC Technical Academy to host 2nd annual ‘Open Day’ for Emirati students on May 4
ABU DHABI -- The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has announced that the ADNOC Technical Academy (ATA) will host its second annual ‘Open Day’ on Saturday, May 4, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at ATA’s Al Shawamekh campus.
Prospective students and their parents are invited to attend to learn about ATA’s academic curriculum and training program, as well as the application and enrolment process. ATA is open for 17- to 25-year olds who are UAE Nationals – or are the son of a UAE mother – and have finished Grade 12 and UAE military service.
This event follows ATA’s inaugural Open Day, held last year, which welcomed more than 1400 young Emiratis to its campus. Attendees learned how ATA’s training program will equip them with the skills and tools needed to pursue potential careers within ADNOC’s various operating companies. This year’s event is expected to be attended by an even larger number of prospective students.
ATA’s curricula and on-the-job training are designed to enhance the skills, knowledge and competencies of their enrolled students and enable them to be successful oil and gas technicians and operators. Training includes one-on-one mentoring, hands-on knowledge-gaining sessions at job sites and on-the-ground views of ADNOC’s real-time working environment. It is led by industry experts, all of whom have years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
Dr. Mohamed Taleb Al Menhali, manager of the ATA said, “The ATA’s second Open Day will, once again, offer young, motivated and hard-working Emiratis the opportunity to understand the breadth of our training program as they seek rewarding careers in the oil and gas industry. Those who enroll in our program will be trained to work across various facilities – both onshore and offshore – giving them unprecedented insight into how our company and industry work. We look forward to welcoming prospective students to our campus and discussing how they can play a role in one of our nation’s most important, dynamic industries.”
Established in 1978, the ATA has provided education and technical training to more than 5,000 Emiratis, who, upon graduation, joined ADNOC’s workforce. The ATA’s classroom, workshop and simulated trainings are designed to equip students with the wide range of operational, mechanical, electrical and instrumental skills needed to control oil and gas industry processes. The 2.5-year academic program combines a year of classroom learning, followed by a year and half of onsite on-the-job training. The curriculum integrates the latest technological advancements to ensure ATA graduates are well-prepared to work in ADNOC’s modern and innovative operational environments.
Based in Al Shawamekh, Abu Dhabi, the ADNOC Technical Academy is a large purpose-built campus with educational, technical and recreational facilities, in addition to a hostel that houses more than 500 students. It employs best-in-class educators and instructors from around the globe to ensure that students receive high-level general education and technical training before entering ADNOC’s workforce.
