Rolls-Royce recognizes significant MTU order from CUDD Energy Services at OTC 2019
HOUSTON -- Rolls-Royce Power Systems and its partner Stewart & Stevenson Manufacturing Technologies used the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) as an opportunity to recognize their long-time customer, CUDD Energy Services, for its investment in Tier 4 technology. CUDD was the first to invest significantly in MTU’s latest oilfield innovation with its purchase of Stewart & Stevenson FT-3001Q Trailer Mounted Fracturing Units with MTU 16V 4000 T95 frac engines, certified to EPA Tier 4 standards without the need for exhaust gas aftertreatment. The first fracturing units based on these engines are set to go into service this month, one of which is on display in the Stewart & Stevenson booth at OTC (Booth 2239, Central Hall).
“CUDD is an innovation leader in the well intervention and completion applications,” said Scott Woodruff, global oil & gas sales director for MTU America. “This investment in the high-power Tier 4 technology will act as a change agent for the industry. As oil field service companies see CUDD’s successful innovation steps, we expect and welcome more interest from the industry.”
The MTU Series 4000 T95 is the only frac engine that meets EPA Tier 4 without the need for aftertreatment, and it provides full frac performance at elevations up to 13,000 ft., depending on air intake temperature. Its key emissions control technology, the MTU Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), has proven its reliability in even the toughest conditions. Combined with MTU’s refined fourth-generation common rail injection system and 2-stage turbocharging, the MTU Series 4000 reduces emissions without compromising performance. In fact, with up to 3,000 bhp (2,237 kW), the 16V 4000 T95 is the most powerful frac engine in its class.
“With the FT-3001Q, Stewart & Stevenson builds upon our history of providing cutting edge Fracturing Equipment that leads the market in emissions reduction and operational performance,” said Chad Joost, senior V.P. of sales and marketing at Stewart & Stevenson. “Our product portfolio focuses on addressing the rigors of modern hydraulic fracturing with ever increasing demands on operational efficiency and uptime. We are proud to work with our world class partners and customers to introduce this next generation of fracturing equipment.”
