First Business Outlook from Offshore Energies UK to cover broader low carbon sectors
At venues in both Aberdeen and London, Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) will publish its first Business Outlook report since evolving into the leading trade body for organizations with an interest in offshore oil, gas, carbon capture and storage, hydrogen and wind.
On March 29, OEUK will simultaneously present its flagship 2022 Business Outlook at a breakfast briefing in Aberdeen’s P&J Live sponsored by Deloitte, while also hosting an event at the Law Society’s Hall in London. Both business briefings will be followed by a live panel session with industry experts to discuss the report’s findings.
“The ongoing crisis in Ukraine and geopolitical volatility sharpens the focus on maintaining secure energy supplies both now and in the future, with our sector continuing to play a critical role in the country’s energy system,” said OEUK Market Intelligence Manager, Ross Dornan. “Our 2022 report includes a review of industry performance trends for oil and gas production plus offshore wind developments as well as the pipeline of future CCUS and hydrogen projects. It also explores the evolving integration of these energies on the UK Continental Shelf as we help drive progress towards the target of net zero emissions by 2050, while minimizing our reliance on imported energy."
Shaun Reynolds, Senior Office Partner for Deloitte, said:
“The oil and gas industry rebounded strongly in 2021, with oil prices reaching their highest levels in six years. However, while the industry’s recovery was better than expected, uncertainty remains over market dynamics in 2022. Delivering net zero targets and identifying decarbonization pathways will also become key priorities for the industry.
“Some of this work has been started through the North Sea Transition Deal which ensures exploration and production of hydrocarbons in the UKCS is done in a clean, responsible way and that the sector’s skills can help other industry sectors transform and support the UK's decarbonization targets. Ultimately, however, until the UK economy transitions to low carbon fuels, the North Sea is expected to continue to play a crucial role in providing the country with much needed fuel for people’s homes, businesses, and vehicles.
“In this context, the OEUK Outlook Report is set to provide valuable insight into the industry’s resilience and forward-thinking approach which will be vital in the future.”

She will be joined by speakers and panelists including:
