API names Amanda Eversole as Executive VP and Chief Advocacy Officer
WASHINGTON — American Petroleum Institute (API) President and CEO Mike Sommers has named Amanda Eversole as Executive Vice President and Chief Advocacy Officer, where she will lead the organization’s integrated advocacy efforts across the federal government relations, state government relations, and external mobilization departments.
Eversole joined API in 2018 as chief operating officer from JPMorgan Chase where she led the Public Affairs team. Previously she held a variety of senior positions at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
“Amanda has been an incredible advocate for our industry and an indispensable partner for me since she came to API nearly four years ago,” Sommers said. “Her strategic insight, coupled with her ability to build relationships and deliver results on behalf of our member companies, is well-established, and I’m delighted that Amanda has agreed to step into this expanded role.”
During her time as API’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, Eversole led the development of API’s strategic plan and the formation of its principles; oversaw membership during historic changes within the industry; revitalized and streamlined API’s business operations; and accelerated critical diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across our industry and at API.
“I am humbled to take on this new challenge as part of a world-class organization that is showing America’s leaders all the ways our industry is solving America’s greatest energy challenges,” said Eversole. “We have an exceptional API team and strong membership, and I look forward to the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for this organization, our industry, and our country.”
Sommers also announced that Senior Advisor Shannon DiBari has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Business, Operations and Strategy, overseeing API’s day-to-day business operations.
Since joining API as Senior Advisor in 2018, DiBari has worked across all of API’s operational channels, enhancing employee engagement across the organization and serving as a key strategic partner to API leadership. Prior to joining API, DiBari served as executive vice president and COO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
