API names Will Hupman as vice president, downstream policy
WASHINGTON — The American Petroleum Institute (API) announced that Will Hupman is returning to API as Vice President of Downstream Policy. In this role, Hupman will lead the API Downstream department and coordinate downstream issues across the organization to help advance API’s mission. Hupman replaces Ron Chittim, who is retiring after nearly 33 years of service at API, including the last three as Vice President of Downstream Policy.
“We look forward to welcoming Will back to API in his new role. He has a deep understanding of the important issues our members face during this critical time,” API Senior Vice President for Policy, Economics and Regulatory Affairs Frank Macchiarola said. “His strong policy knowledge will be an asset to our downstream team and his significant government relations experience will help us continue to integrate across divisions at API.”
“I’m honored to be returning to API with the opportunity to lead a talented team of professionals working to support and advance America’s oil and natural gas industry,” Hupman said.
Hupman, who most recently served as the Director of Federal Affairs for The Sherwin-Williams Company, previously spent six years on API’s federal affairs team engaging on a wide range of fuels, tax, and environmental issues. Hupman earned a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a J.D. from Louisiana State University.
