ProSep secures “landmark” mixing technology contract following upstream success
(WO) – In what the company is calling a significant deal, ProSep has announced a landmark six-figure contract to collaborate with a U.S.-based refinery for the first time.
Announcing the receipt of an award for the delivery of two of its MAX+ (Multiphase Adjustable Xtreme) High Efficiency Mixers, ProSep will deliver its leading technology for a production train upgrade project.
Having previously supplied mixing technologies suitable for refinery projects to its global client base, this will be the first time that ProSep (based in Houston) will collaborate with a refinery located in the US.
With the ability to increase wash water desalting efficiency with lower pressure drop than conventional mixers, the MAX+ technology will be used for a two-stage desalter train at the US facility.
The two MAX+ mixers will be designed and fabricated in Houston, Texas, before delivery to the refinery in the summer of 2024, with commissioning expected before the end of the year.
Following commissioning, ProSep will work with the operator to test and monitor the performance improvements provided by the technology, which it expects will provide immediate results.
By integrating the MAX+ mixers, ProSep is anticipating the results will see significant increases in desalting efficiency with lower chloride levels in downstream equipment, reducing corrosion and improving facility productivity.
Gregory Hallahan, ProSep CEO, commented, "Being awarded this contract is a great way to start another crucial year for ProSep. The MAX+ has previously been deployed in several European refineries with great success. Building upon successful deployment in upstream dehydration and desalting applications, we are confident this new contract will achieve the same encouraging results.
“We aim to drive progress across the energy industry, and this project will significantly contribute to that. As our first deployment with a U.S. refinery, this is an important milestone for ProSep. Having previously worked on a technology test with the same operator, it’s really positive that the MAX+ desalting mixer has been recommended as the standard mixer for their refinery’s upgrades. This is a great project that will strengthen the reputation of our mixing technologies within the U.S. market.”
