Energy Workforce applauds progress on Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024
(WO) – Energy Workforce & Technology Council released a statement applauding the passage of the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 out of the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee.
The bipartisan legislation introduced by Chairman Joe Manchin (I-WV) and Ranking Member John Barrasso (R-WY) seeks to strengthen American energy security by accelerating the permitting process for critical energy and mineral projects of all types in the United States.
“The progress of the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 is a tremendous milestone for the energy services sector. With global energy demand steadily rising, it is critical that we develop the necessary energy infrastructures to meet not only American energy needs but those of our allies abroad,” said Energy Workforce President Tim Tarpley.
This legislation is essential for securing our nation’s energy future; without it, we risk losing our position as a global leader in energy innovation and production.
Tarpley continued, “Timely build-out of critical projects hinges on effective permitting reform. Currently, permitting new projects in the United States is cumbersome, delayed by unnecessary legal battles and bureaucratic red tape. This legislation also addresses the urgent need to lift the detrimental LNG permitting pause, which jeopardizes the energy security of our allies during ongoing geopolitical conflict.
“I strongly urge bipartisan support for this legislation and its passage within this Congress. The security and stability of America's energy future depend on passing this package, we absolutely cannot wait until next year.”
