Statoil cleared to drill four survey wells at Johan Sverdrup
STAVANGER, Norway -- Statoil has received consent to drill four survey wells at Johan Sverdrup field, Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway said Monday.
The field will be developed by four fixed facilities, with production expected to start in late 2019.
The PSA gave Statoil consent to drill the survey wells in order to obtain information about reservoir conditions in the field.
Drilling is scheduled to begin on Nov. 1, 2016, and will last around four months. Water depth in the area is 110–120 m.
The wells will be drilled using the Deepsea Atlantic semisubmersible, which is operated by Odfjell Drilling.
