Global Maritime announces major contract win for work on Equinor's Njord field

October 08, 2018

STAVANGER -- Global Maritime has been awarded a contract with Equinor until 2020 for marine operations. The contract value is estimated to be around $7-9.5 million, one of the largest in Global Maritime’s history. Global Maritime will oversee project management, engineering, equipment procurement and offshore management with everything handled from their Stavanger and Oslo offices.

Global Maritime has already successfully performed the towing of the Njord Bravo floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel from Kristiansund to Haugesund this summer, and will have a larger offshore campaign with Equinor in 2019 that includes: the pre-installation of 15 mooring lines for the Njord A & B platforms including 10 suction anchors; the re-connection of the Njord B submerged turret loading (STL) buoy and mooring; lift & support of seven Flowlines at Njord A; and the recovery of one complete mooring line at Njord A including the suction anchor.

The contract also covers both the towing and re-connection of both Njord A and Njord B in 2020. Equinor has chartered the newbuild deepwater installation vessel Island Victory that Global Maritime will utilize to perform the 2019 campaign.

Global Maritime has been working for Equinor and the Njord Future Marine project from 2015 to 2017 with the disconnection and towing of Njord B and Njord A including a contract extension to recover the Njord B STL system, the power cable between Njord A and Njord B, and the lift and support of seven risers at Njord A.
