Total has been granted a drilling permit for well 6406/6

NORWAY -- The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate has granted Total E&P Norge AS a drilling permit for well 6406/6-6 A, cf. Section 15 of the Resource Management Regulations.

Well 6406/6-6 A will be drilled from the Scarabeo 8 drilling facility in position 64°35'47.61" North and 6°51'15.40" East after completing the drilling of wildcat well 6406/6-6 S for Total E&P Norge AS in production license 255 B.

The drilling program for well 6406/6-6 A relates to the drilling of a geological sidetrack in production license 255 B. Total is the operator with an ownership interest of 40 %. The other licensees are Equinor Energy AS (30%) and Petoro AS (30%). The area in this license consists of a part of block 6406/5 and a part of block 6406/6. The well will be drilled about 12 km north of the Linnorm gas and condensate discovery and 270 km southwest of Brønnøysund and there it will explore the reservoir in Jurassic deposits proven in wildcat well 6406/6-6 S.

Production license 255 B was awarded on May 19, 2016 in the 16th licensing round on the Norwegian Shelf. This is the third well to be drilled in the license.

The permit is contingent on the operator securing all other consents and permits required by other authorities before the drilling activity commences.
