Abrado completes rig-less, dual-string section-milling P&A job in GOM
HOUSTON -- Abrado announced today that it has completed the first well in a multi-well P&A campaign for an independent GOM operator, using its proprietary Medusa expandable casing section-milling technology.
Work on the multi-well campaign for the GOM operator began in January 2018. The scope of work included dual-string casing-section milling to seal off sustained casing pressure in the annuli using Abrado’s proprietary line of expandable casing-section milling tools. The 9 5/8in. by 13 3/8-in. dual-string casing windows were milled out successfully to allow traditional cement barrier placement to seal the annuli. The company continues to investigate, operate and validate operations with its full line of downhole video cameras for pre- and post-window inspection, as well as barrier placement.
“Abrado investigates with downhole video, operates with the Medusa Expandable Casing Section Milling technology and validates with downhole video, continuing to prove its value by saving time and cost by eliminating unnecessary trips and providing the operator and regulator with visual validation that the well is sealed and the job is complete," said Jason Parrish, Abrado Senior Vice President.
