Keppel FloaTEC secures engineering services contract for production semi in China
HOUSTON -- Keppel FloaTEC LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary, of Keppel Offshore & Marine has secured an engineering services contract from China’s Offshore Oil Engineering Company Ltd (COOEC), the main EPCI (engineering, procurement, construction, installation) contractor for the Lingshui 17-2 production semi-submersible (semi) to be built in China.
Keppel FloaTEC’s work includes the review and the independent design verification for the Lingshui 17-2 production semi hull, mooring, riser and deck structure. The planned facility for Lingshui 17-2 is set to be the world’s first deepwater semi-submersible production floater with condensate storage facilities.
Mr. T K Das, president of Keppel FloaTEC said, “We are pleased that COOEC has selected Keppel FloaTEC to undertake the independent third party review of this semi design. It is a testament to our reputation and track record as a leading design and engineering company in floating production systems. We look forward to contributing to the success of this project and leveraging our capabilities in deep-water products to support the industry.”
Lingshui 17-2 lies in about 4,921.26 ft (1,500 m) of water around 93.21 mi (150 km) south of Hainan Province in South China Sea. The development plan involves installing a semi-submersible production platform with condensate storage and subsea production system.
When completed, the field will produce about 3 billion to 3.5 billion cubic meters gas per year.
