Noia remembers Flight 491 tragedy on 13th anniversary
ST. JOHNS, NL – March 12 marked 13 years since Flight 491 crashed in the waters off Newfoundland and Labrador, resulting in the loss of 17 of the 18 people on board.
On this solemn anniversary, Newfoundland & Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (Noia) remembers these individuals, the survivor, as well as the family and friends who lost a loved one on that day.
“Flight 491 has had a profound and lasting impact on our province and offshore industry,” said Charlene Johnson, Noia CEO. “This tragedy serves as a constant reminder of the challenges faced by those working in Newfoundland and Labrador’s offshore. Today, as we remember the 17 people lost, let us renew our commitment to safety and training for the offshore industry. On behalf of Noia, I offer sincerest condolences and support to all those who lost a family member, friend, or loved one on that tragic day.”
On Saturday, March 12, 2022, Eastern Chaplaincy hosted, on behalf of the families, friends and co-workers of those lost, a special Time of Remembrance.
