The move follows Deirdre Michie’s decision to step down in December 2022, after almost 8 years in the role as Chief Executive Officer. During her tenure, Ms Michie has led the industry’s response to many challenges including two downturns and the global pandemic, while helping it evolve and respond positively to include the low-carbon offshore energy technologies required to deliver net zero, while ensuring ongoing security of energy supply.

As a leading trade body, Offshore Energies UK represents organisations with an interest in oil and gas and increasingly offshore wind, hydrogen, and carbon capture and storage. It is committed to delivering the North Sea Transition Deal, a landmark agreement between industry and government to help create the diverse energy generating systems needed to achieve net zero.

Offshore Energies UK Finance & Corporate Services Director Graham Elgie said:

“Following Deirdre Michie’s announcement that she will be standing down in December as OEUK Chief Executive after eight very successful years, the Board is now seeking to find a new champion who can ensure a multi-year commitment to an offshore energy sector undergoing rapid and positive change. We have engaged recruitment specialists, Odgers Berndtson to support us in the search process and appointment of a successor.“

Offering a mix of strategic and operational responsibilities, the CEO role will focus on leading OEUK, being a champion of the sector and coordinating industry action. Full details about the chief executive role are available on the OEUK website and at the following link here.
