WesternZagros joins APIKUR, strengthening oil production goals in Kurdistan region
WesternZagros, a privately held American company with offices in Calgary, Canada, and Erbil and Sulaymaniyah in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, has officially become a member of APIKUR.
The company, having invested over $1 billion in oil and gas exploration and production in Iraq's Kurdistan region since 2005, brings significant experience to the collective.
APIKUR, whose members collectively contribute to over 50% of oil production in Iraq's Kurdistan region, now includes WesternZagros in its ranks. WesternZagros holds two production sharing contracts in the Kurdistan region, outlining the exploration and production framework for both crude oil and natural gas in the Kurdamir and Garmian Blocks. Separate contracts govern each specific block.
“APIKUR’s voice is stronger with the addition of WesternZagros” said Myles B. Caggins III, APIKUR spokesman. “All APIKUR member companies share the same goal of resuming full oil production and exports for the benefit of stakeholders, employees, and the economy of Iraq.”
APIKUR members are united in encouraging all parties to reach a commercial resolution that preserves contractual rights, fostering a positive future investment climate for Iraq and the Kurdistan region.
