UK oil and gas production at risk amidst workers’ strike
(Bloomberg) — The UK’s production of oil and natural gas could be at risk from strike action in the coming weeks, according to the Unite union.
The walkouts will affect dozens of platforms operated by companies including BP Plc, Shell Plc and TotalEnergies SE, the union said in a statement. No date has been set yet for the start of the labor action that was approved by 1,400 workers.
Unite General Secretary Sharon Graham warned of a “tsunami of industrial unrest in the offshore sector” as workers seek a better deal on pay and conditions.
Other oil and gas producers that will be affected include CNR International, EnQuest Plc, Harbour Energy Plc and Ithaca Energy Plc.
