Energean begins natural gas production from FPSO offshore Israel

(WO) – Energean plc announced that it has begun natural gas production at the Karish North discovery offshore Israel. First gas from Karish North was safely achieved on Feb, 22, 2024. The Karish North production well is currently utilizing the second gas export riser, the installation of which was completed in Dec. 2023.

The Energean Power FPSO now has four production wells in operation, increasing well stock redundancy and flexibility to meet the demand requirements of Energean’s natural gas buyers.

Mathios Rigas, Chief Executive of Energean, commented, “Energean has successfully delivered another milestone in bringing our fourth well, Karish North, to first production. This provides us with operational flexibility and enables us to utilize the FPSO’s maximum gas capacity. “

Energean announced the Karish North discovery in April 2019. According to its website, Karish North contains a total of 240.7 MMboe, of which 84% is gas.
