Oil States Energy Services unveils automated remote wellsite monitoring technology at HFTC 2024

(WO) – Oil States Energy Services, a global provider of remote wellsite monitoring and control solutions, announced its new ACTIVEHub system and ACTIVELatch technology. Together, these innovations fulfill operators’ needs for remotely monitoring and automating frac locations to promote a more efficient, safer wellsite.

The ACTIVEHub platform is a communication and control center that provides real-time information and control across the entire wellsite. The ACTIVEHub Command Trailer features wireless technologies capable of remotely monitoring and controlling analog equipment equipped with ACTIVEHub technology on a given site up to 75 yards away.

ACTIVELatch, a key component of the ACTIVEHub system, is the industry’s first battery-operated wireless latch. ACTIVELatch is a 5 1/8”, 15,000 psi, remotely operated wellhead connection that allows operators to make and break wireline connections to the well wirelessly via the ACTIVEHub Communication and Control System without bulky cables or hydraulics.

Automated safety protocols reduce the risk of latches opening under pressure. The component’s wireless capability removes personnel from the red zone for greater wellsite safety. Compared to conventional flange and unflange methods of connecting a latch, ACTIVELatch reduces downtime by saving 20 to 25 minutes per swap from frac to wireline.

The ACTIVEHub and ACTIVELatch technologies will be showcased at the 2024 SPE Hydraulic Fracturing Technology Conference and Exhibition at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center in Booth 409. Throughout the conference, Oil States will demonstrate the latest advancements in oil and gas well completion solutions.
