CNOOC, Mozambique partner to increase oil and gas investment with offshore exploration deals
(WO) – On March 26, 2024, the government of Mozambique approved the terms and conditions for Concession Contracts for oil and gas research and development in Blocks A6-E, A6-G, A6-D, S6-A and S6-B. The government announced that China’s CNOOC Ltd. and Mozambique’s National Hydrocarbons Company (ENH) have been awarded the offshore contracts.
According Mozambique’s national regulatory body, the Instituto Nacional de Petróleo (INP), exploration activities include acquiring over 26,000 km2 of 3D seismic data, drilling at least four deepwater research wells, and geoscientific studies in the Save and Angoche offshore regions.
In Nov. 2021, Mozambique’s Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy launched the Sixth Public Tender for 16 offshore exploration and production blocks. The goal of the tender was to create a more attractive environment for oil and gas investments and encourage economic and social development within the country.
