ExxonMobil secures two exploration contracts offshore Morrocco
(WO) – Madam Amina Benkhadra, General Director of Office National des Hydrocarbures et des Mines (“ONHYM”), and Mr. Charles David Tautfest, President of Esso Exploration International Limited (“Esso”), a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, signed two reconnaissance contracts for exploration operations offshore Morocco.
These reconnaissance contracts cover the Safi-Essaouira and Agadir-Ifni areas offshore the cities of Safi, Essaouira, Agadir and Sidi Ifni.
Exxon Mobil Corporation, parent-company of Esso, is one of the largest publicly traded oil and gas companies in the world. ExxonMobil affiliates have interests in oil and gas exploration and production projects in more than 20 countries, in addition to petrochemical, refinery and energy products distribution activities all over the world.
The signing of these contracts marks the first exploration activity pursued in Morocco by ExxonMobil since the merger Exxon and Mobil in 1999. The event is also part of ONHYM's strategy to develop and promote Morocco's oil and gas resources.
