Horizon targets first production from Poland gas project
(WO) — Horizon Petroleum is preparing to begin field operations at its Lachowice gas development in southern Poland as the company advances toward targeted first production in 2027.
The project is located within the Bielsko-Biala concession area in southern Poland and represents Horizon’s core development asset in the country.
According to the company, construction work on the Lachowice-7 well pad is expected to begin during the second week of June, while discussions for a drilling rig contract tied to planned workover and recompletion operations are in advanced stages.
Re-entry and recompletion work on the Lachowice-7 well is expected to begin in July.
“We are pleased that the contract for construction of the Lachowice 7 well pad has now been finalized,” said Dr. David Winter, CEO of Horizon Petroleum. “We look forward to continuing our work with stakeholders and will provide further market updates as the initial development program advances.”
Horizon said long-lead equipment, including tubing and wellhead components, has already been secured and delivered in-country ahead of operations.
Subject to a successful workover program, the company expects initial gas and electricity sales from the Lachowice-7 well to provide Horizon with its first project cash flow.
Production from the well is also expected to support long-term reservoir evaluation of naturally fractured Devonian limestone and dolomite intervals encountered at the field. Horizon said production data collected during the early development phase will help optimize future completion designs and broader field development planning.
The company has submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment permit application for the planned early production facility, with approval anticipated before year-end.
Horizon also confirmed that a local utility provider has completed relocation of a power line previously crossing the wellsite, clearing the location for heavy equipment mobilization and construction activity.
The company is targeting initial gas and electricity sales during the first half of 2027.
As part of longer-term development planning, Horizon has completed surveying work related to a planned 75-km² 3D seismic program over the Lachowice project area, with acquisition currently scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.
The company said it has also initiated discussions regarding future gas transportation infrastructure and zoning requirements tied to a planned gas processing facility and additional well sites.
