Global integrated subsea services business, Kreuz Subsea, and consortium partner Seamec Ltd, have successfully completed mobilization of the Kreuz Glorious vessel to commence a two-year project with India’s Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). The scope of work includes the inspection of 27 offshore jackets in the Mumbai High North, Mumbai High South, Heera, Neelam and Bassien assets, offshore the coast of Mumbai in the Arabian Sea. The construction work barge is designed specifically to work around complex jackets that are often inaccessible by more traditionally utilized DP2 diving vessels. The Kreuz Glorious has a 1,200-m² deck area, accommodation for 304 people and an eight-point mooring system. 

BP has received approval from the UK Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) to proceed with the Alligin development west of Shetland, which will target 20 MMboe, and is expected to produce 12,000 barrels of gross oil equivalent per day at peak. Alligin sits 140 km west of Shetland in a water depth of 475 m. It forms part of the Greater Schiehallion Area, and is expected to go onstream in 2020.

Faroe Petroleum has spudded the Rungne exploration well 30/6-30 in the Norwegian North Sea (Faroe 40% WI), 30 km northwest of Brasse field and immediately north of Oseberg oil field. The well will target the Middle Jurassic Oseberg formation, with secondary targets in the Etive and Ness formations. The total expected vertical depth of the well is approximately 3,490 m, in a water depth of 119 m. Drilling operations will be undertaken using the Transocean Arctic semisubmersible.

BHGE, McDermott International, Inc. and L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE), a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, have been awarded the subsea contract for ONGC’s largest deepwater project, the development of Block DWN-98/2 in India’s Krishna Godavari basin. The project will provide all subsea production systems, including 34 deepwater trees, and the installation of subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines at a water depth of between 984 ft and 10,500 ft.

Total and CNOOC have signed an amendment to their existing sale-and-purchase agreement for LNG supply, to further strengthen their cooperation in the LNG business. The partners have increased the contract volume from 1 Mtpa to 1.5 Mtpa of LNG, sourced from Total’s global LNG portfolio, and have extended the terms of contract to 20 years.

UTEC has partnered with Zamil Offshore to secure a major contract in Saudi Arabia for the floatover, from Oman to Saudi Arabia, of multiple platform topsides and their installations. The UTEC scope includes topside dimensional control, positioning and motion monitoring during topside transportation and installation, and metocean and weather prediction services.

Rowan Companies’ Rowan Renaissance, an R-Class ultra-deepwater drillship, has been awarded a contract in Mexico
by Total with a term of one well for an estimated duration of 60 days. The agreement includes three one-well options that can be exercised by other Total affiliates. Operations are expected to commence in early 2019. The Rowan Renaissance is being reactivated from offshore Louisiana.

Equinor has awarded a jacket contract for the processing platform for Johan Sverdrup phase 2 to Kværner. The contract value is around $106.81 million, and covers engineering, procurement and construction of the steel substructure for the second processing platform at Johan Sverdrup field. The 12,300-tonne substructure will be constructed at Kværner’s yard in Verdal and installed in Johan Sverdrup during the spring of 2021.

Polarcus Limited has received an award for a 3D marine seismic acquisition project off West Africa. The award comprises two surveys of approximately three months, each, with the first survey expected to commence during second-quarter 2019. A second survey will start in fourth-quarter 2019.

JFE Connections America and JFE Technical Center have opened a new research and development lab in North Houston at 6415 N. Sam Houston Pkwy W., Houston, Texas 77086. The fully functional, state-of-the-art facility is 20,000 ft², including a 15,500-ft² lab. The new facility offers a comprehensive range of engineering and connection testing services, and includes two full-scale connection test frames, CNC threading lathes, hydraulic swager, and make-and-break test equipment.

BMT has won a contract to provide multiple marine monitoring systems for BP’s new Mad Dog Phase 2 semisubmersible floating production facility in the GOM. It will have the capacity to produce up to 140,000 bopd from up to 14 production wells. BMT will install its integrated marine monitoring system to provide key data, in real time, to offshore operators, and to collect detailed data sets to support long-term integrity monitoring of the asset.

Global Maritime has been awarded a contract with Equinor until 2020 for marine operations. The contract value is estimated to be between $7 million and $9.5 million, one of the largest in the company’s history. The operations company will oversee project management, engineering, equipment procurement and offshore management. The contract also covers both the towing and re-connection of both Njord A and Njord B in 2020. Equinor has chartered the newbuild deepwater installation vessel Island Victory to perform the 2019 campaign.

Tenaris employees, executives and elected officials gathered at Tenaris’s plant in Conroe, Texas, to celebrate its reactivation following a three-year suspension of operations. An investment of approximately $7 million was made to ready the plant for operations, including safety, training, equipment and systems upgrades.

PD&MS Group has secured a contract renewal for up to two years with Chrysaor, following successful delivery on the assets since they were purchased in 2017. The award will see the firm continuing to support all of the operator’s North Sea facilities, including the Lomond, Everest and Armada installations.

Claxton has been contracted to support MOL Norge AS on its first well program on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. The award is through Ross Offshore Well Management AS, which Claxton will support with equipment delivery. The exploration program consists of two fixed and two optional wells to be drilled from the Rowan Viking jackup rig.

AFGlobal has launched a new API-certified fastener business to enhance the company’s offshore and onshore production capabilities. The new offering will feature engineered bolting for offshore and onshore oil and gas applications. Backed by API Monogram (20E and 20F standards), these fasteners will be built to withstand harsh high-pressure/high-temperature (HP/HT) environments, improving the safety and reliability of critical surface and subsea applications. These critical fasteners will be available commercially in first-quarter 2019.

BP has completed the $10.5 billion acquisition of BHP’s U.S. unconventional assets. Rebranded as BPX Energy, this adds oil and gas production of 190,000 boed and 4.6 Bboe of discovered resources in the Permian and Eagle Ford basins in Texas, and in the Haynesville shale of East Texas and Louisiana.
