SYDNEY (Bloomberg) -- Dick Stoneburner helped sell Petrohawk Energy Corp. to BHP Billiton Ltd. in a $15.1 billion deal. Now he’s bringing his experience in U.S. shale to Australia as a board member of Tamboran Resources Ltd. “They have a lot of opportunity embedded in their assets, they just need some direction and need some capital,” Stoneburner, a managing director at New York-based investment firm Pine Brook Partners, said in a phone interview.

BRISBANE, Australia -- Exoma Energy has withdrawn from the Galilee JV exploration permits (ATP 991P, ATP 996P, ATP 999P and ATP 1005P), effective from Jan. 1, 2015. Following Exoma’s withdrawal, CNOOC Galilee Gas company will have a 100% interest in the exploration permits.

SYDNEY (Bloomberg) -- High-cost energy projects globally will struggle to stay profitable if crude oil prices stay around $80/bbl to $85/bbl and some proposed developments may be shelved, according to Oil Search Ltd. “The bottom line is that much of the industry around the world needs $80, $85 consistently to provide returns,” Managing Director Peter Botten said in an interview in Sydney on Oct. 23. “If it stays at that level, marginal projects will struggle, and eventually production will adjust.”

PERTH, Australia (Bloomberg) -- Woodside Petroleum raised its output forecast after quarterly sales jumped 46% as it achieved higher prices for its LNG. Sales climbed to $1.96 billion from $1.34 billion a year ago, Woodside said in a statement Oct. 16. That was in line with an estimate of $1.95 billion from UBS.

SYDNEY (Bloomberg) -- AWE Ltd. may start initial production at its Senecio and Waitsia fields as soon as 2016 after announcing what may be the largest onshore natural gas discovery in Western Australia since the 1960s. The project could supply as much as 10% of the West Australian market in the next 10 to 20 years, Bruce Clement, managing director of the Sydney-based oil and gas explorer, said Sept. 25 in a phone interview.

SYDNEY -- AWE Limited, as operator of the L1/L2 JV, has announced initial Contingent Resource estimates for the Waitsia discovery (formerly Senecio Deep) in the north Perth basin, Australia. The news follows the recently announced upgrade of the 2C Contingent Resources in Senecio field. After initial analysis of data from the Senecio-3 well, and the existing 3D seismic, AWE estimates that the Kingia/High Cliff Sandstone intervals in Waitsia field have gross Contingent Resources in the range of 65 Bcf to 1,170 Bcf, with a best estimate (2C) of 290 Bcf.

PERTH, Australia -- Neptune Marine Services Limited (Neptune) has reported that its Subsea Stabilisation division was recently awarded two subcontracts by McDermott Australia for the Ichthys LNG Project. McDermott is the appointed main contractor for the Subsea Umbilicals, Risers and Flowlines (SURF) engineering, procurement, construction and installation portion of the project.
